Implement MES Cloud Integration

The MES Cloud integration utilizes the following components for extracting on-premises MES production and utilization data and publishing it to AVEVA CONNECT data services for display in CONNECT visualization.

• MES Curation Service

  The MES Curation Service is a Windows service that provides two main functions:

  • Providing a Web API interface for the AVEVA Events to CONNECT agent. The agent periodically requests event data from the MES Curation Service including context information. When data is available, it is sent to CONNECT data services event storage.

  • Extracting (curating) data from the MES production database tables and storing it in the staging tables. The default behavior is to curate data directly from the MES database. Using the staging tables requires additional configuration in MES Client.

    The MES Curation Service must be installed on a machine that has MES middleware.

    Note: The MES Curation Service component license must be activated in order to access Connected MES Cloud integration functionality. For more information, see Set up MES product licenses.

• Events to CONNECT agent

  The AVEVA Events to CONNECT agent provides the connectivity to CONNECT data services and the publishing of MES events from the MES Curation Service. The MES Cloud integration solution must be used with this component. Events to CONNECT is included as a separate install and configuration.

  AVEVA Events to CONNECT can be installed on the same or a separate machine.

• CONNECT visualization

  Within the AVEVA cloud platform, the visualization of the published data is through pre-built widgets. These widgets can be added to a dashboard for displaying one or more assets' utilization timeline, OEE KPIs, utilization downtime events summary, production events summary, and more.

  The machine where Events to CONNECT is installed must have an internet connection to AVEVA CONNECT.
