The following procedures describe how to configure specific MES components for each node type in a cluster environment. For general information on configuring MES components, see the MES component configuration procedures.
Configure cluster nodes
On each cluster node:
-
Ensure the following components are installed:
-
MES Server (MES Middleware and MES Database)
-
PCS System Management Server.
For detailed information on installing components, see Install MES.
-
-
Configure the MES DB/MW Communication component middleware host service MES production database connection string. For detailed instructions, see Configure the MES production database connection string.
Ensure that each cluster node uses the same production database connection string.
-
Configure the MES Database Setup component. Ensure that you:
-
Use the same production database configuration settings for both cluster nodes.
-
Use the same production database connection string settings for both cluster nodes.
For detailed instructions, see Configure the MES database.
-
-
Import a wildcard certificate using the PCS System Management Server component to one SMS and AIM server. For more information, see System Management Server and local node common platform certificate settings.

Configure the MES database server node
-
Ensure the following components are installed:
-
MES Database
-
PCS System Management Server.
For detailed information on installing components, see Install MES.
-
-
Configure the MES Database component. For more information, see Configure the MES database.
-
Import a wildcard certificate using the PCS System Management Server component to one SMS and AIM server. For more information, see System Management Server and local node common platform certificate settings.

Configure the MES Client node
-
Ensure the MES Middleware proxy component is installed.
For detailed information on installing components, see Install MES.
-
Configure the AIM server information. For more information, see Configure the MES middleware proxy AIM client registration.

-
Configure the MES cluster server by adding the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of cluster server to the middleware proxy list. For more information, see Configure the MES middleware proxy settings.
Important: Ensure that you use the single exposed FQDN cluster server address for the connecting Clients. In addition, when configuring the MES middleware proxy, only use the HTTP protocol. Using the TCP protocol will not work for MES within a failover cluster environment.
