ControlLogix PLCs via Ethernet

  • Last UpdatedMay 24, 2023

Typically, the ControlLogix CPU module you want to connect to will be mounted on the same PLC backplane as Ethernet module your I/O Server communicates with. If not, you must set up a route path to indicate the location of the CPU you want to use.

See Using a Route Path To Locate a Remote CPU.

Note: The ABCLX driver will not perform on a slow network, or a network that has an inconsistent connection to an I/O device in the field (for example, a wireless or dial-up connection). This is because the driver downloads all the tags from the PLC and subscribes them before it comes online. Attempting to do this over a slow network can take too long and may cause the driver to time out on startup.
