Data from Microsoft Excel can be imported into your Plant SCADA project. When you import a CSV file, data in the grid will be overwritten only for those projects that have corresponding data in the CSV file. Data for other projects will not be affected.

LOSS OF DATA If you make an incorrect selection when you chose to import a CSV file into Plant SCADA Studio, you may overwrite your data with outdated or inappropriate values. To avoid this situation, it is recommended that you use a naming convention for exported CSV files that clearly describes the content included in the file. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage. |
Note: Read-only records will remain read-only after an import even if these values are modified prior to an import. Modified values will result in a mismatch between values generated by the Equipment Editor or a tag import and those in the Grid Editor.
To import all data from a CSV file:
-
Save the data from in Microsoft Excel file to a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file.
-
Click Import in Plant SCADA Plant SCADA Studio. The Import Data from CSV file dialog box appears.
-
Select the file you want to import, and click Open. A warning message is displayed indicating that the entire database will be overwritten on import.
-
Click OK to proceed with the import. A message is displayed on successful import.
Note:
• If the data in the imported file is not valid (for example, it contains entries
for a project that does not exist in your active project hierarchy), an error message
is displayed and data import does not go through.
• If the imported file does not contain any entries for a particular project in your
active project hierarchy, the data for that particular project will not be overwritten.
