Upgrade Method

Before you upgrade Plant SCADA, you need to consider which upgrade method you will use. There are two methods to choose from.

• Offline Upgrade

  This method requires your runtime system to be shut down for the duration of the upgrade. If your system can afford downtime and does not need historical information for the upgrade period, this method is suitable.

  An offline upgrade involves a straightforward procedure that is also included as part of an online upgrade.

• Online Upgrade

  This method is required if you need your SCADA system to maintain continuous availability. To perform an online upgrade, you need to have at least one pair of redundant servers. For further details and requirements, see Pre-requisites for Online Upgrade.
