Upgrade Plant SCADA

This chapter describes the process required to migrate from an existing installation of Plant SCADA (or Citect SCADA) to a more recent version.

Before you proceed with an upgrade, you need to consider the following:

• Upgrade Method

  You need to choose an upgrade method: offline or online. The offline method requires your runtime system to be shut down for the duration of the upgrade. If you need to maintain continuous operation of your runtime system, you need to use the online method. See Upgrade Method.

• Upgrade Path

  If you are starting from an early version of Plant SCADA (or Citect SCADA), you may need to install an intermediate version to progress towards a more recent release. To determine which versions are required to upgrade from your current version to a later one, see Upgrade Path.

• Prepare your system

  Before you attempt the installation of a new version of Plant SCADA, there are a number of steps you need to take to prepare a computer for the upgrade process. See Prepare your System for Upgrade.
