This procedure explains how to rename an existing equipment instance in Equipment Editor.

To rename an equipment instance:

  1. Open Equipment Editor.

  2. Select the Equipment tab.

    Or:

Select Equipment from the View menu.

  3. In the Equipment panel, locate the equipment instance you would like to rename within the Equipment Hierarchy.

  4. Right-click and select Rename.

  5. Enter a new name for the equipment instance.

The equipment name needs to begin with an alphabetical character (A-Z or a-z) or the underscore character (_). Subsequent characters need to be alphanumeric (A-Z, a-z or 0-9), backslashes (\), or underscores (_).

Equipment names cannot contain spaces. You should also avoid any Reserved Words.

Note: When you rename an equipment instance, Plant SCADA applies the new name to any associated variables, trends and alarms. If this involves a large number of changes, a Cascading Changes dialog will appear to indicate how many changes are being processed and how they are progressing.
