Configure a basic SA_Alarm_HistoryPage symbol

The SA_Alarm_HistoryPage symbol uses the following default options to connect to an alarm history database.

  • Connects to an A2ALMDB historical alarm database

  • Authenticates database users by the Windows Integrated authentication mode

  • Connects to the historical alarm database when the application containing the symbol starts in WindowViewer

  • Sets localhost as the name of the server where the historical alarm database is installed

  • Shows a descriptive label and severity icons on the alarm severity filter tabs

Prerequisites

This procedure explains the basic steps to configure the SA_Alarm_HistoryPage symbol when a historical alarm database is installed on a remote computer. You must know the node name of the remote computer. All other default options listed above remain unchanged.

This procedure explains basic configuration steps using the Industrial Graphic Editor.

Note: Make sure the historical alarm database is running before completing the configuration procedure.

To configure the SA_Alarm_HistoryPage symbol

  1. Embed the SA_Alarm_HistoryPage symbol in another symbol from the Industrial Graphic Editor.

  2. Right-click on the symbol and select Custom Properties from the shortcut menu.

  3. Select ServerNodeName from the list of custom properties.

  4. Clear the default localhost text from the Default Value field.

  5. Enter the node name of the computer hosting the A2ALMDB historical database.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Save the symbol and check it in.

  8. Deploy the Galaxy containing the object whose attributes are used as reference values of the custom properties.

  9. Double-click an instance of InTouchViewApp to start WindowMaker.

  10. Create a new InTouch window and embed the symbol containing the symbol.

  11. Run the application in WindowViewer to verify that your basic symbol configuration works correctly.
