Configuring an SA_AlarmLight symbol consists of assigning a label and assigning values to custom properties that enable Alarm Border animation.

AlarmLightSeverity3

Prerequisites

To configure the the basic configuration of the SA_AlarmLight symbol, you only need to assign alarm attributes as reference values to the set of alarm border custom properties.

Note: ArchestrA objects contain a specific set of attributes intended to serve as reference values for Alarm Border custom properties. The names of the Alarm Border attributes map exactly to the corresponding Alarm Border custom properties. The recommended way to use Alarm Border animation is in managed InTouch applications that reference ArchestrA attributes for their data.

This procedure explains how to assign attributes to custom properties using owning objects.

To configure an SA_AlarmLight symbol using owning objects

  1. Embed the symbol in another symbol in the Industrial Graphic Editor.

  2. Select the symbol and scroll the Properties pane at the right of the window until you see the Runtime Behavior area.

  3. Click the OwningObject field to show the Instances window.

  4. Select an instance from the list that you want to be the owing object and whose attributes will be automatically assigned to the symbol's custom properties.

If you know the name of the instance, simply enter the name in the OwningObject field.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Save the symbol and check it in.

  7. Deploy the Galaxy containing the object with attributes that are used as reference values of the custom properties.

  8. Double-click an instance of InTouchViewApp to start WindowMaker.

  9. Create a new InTouch window and embed the symbol containing the symbol.

  10. Run the application in WindowViewer to verify that your basic symbol configuration works correctly.
