Configure a basic SA_Valve_2Way symbol using ArchestrA attributes

Configure a basic SA_Valve_2Way symbol using ArchestrA attributes

The basic configuration of a SA_Valve_2Way symbol is discrete valve. A single custom property needs to be configured to show the active and passive states of the symbol.

The basic configuration of an analog SA_Valve_2Way symbol requires you to set three additional custom properties to show the valve open percentage on the symbol's valve position bar.

For more information about enabling Desktop Experience, refer to the documentation of a supported version of Windows server.

The steps to configure a basic discrete or analog 2Way valve symbol are explained in the following procedure. A caption within the procedure identifies the additional steps to assign reference values to the custom properties of an analog valve.

Discrete valve prerequisites

To follow the steps to configure a basic discrete valve, create ArchestrA objects that meet the following requirements:

  • Create a Boolean field attribute to indicate the state of the symbol's valve.

  • Create an InTouch application with a window to verify that the symbol has been configured correctly.

Analog valve prerequisites

To follow the steps to configure a basic analog valve, create ArchestrA objects that meet the following requirements:

  • Create a Boolean field attribute to indicate the state of the valve.

  • Create a Double data type field attribute for the valve's PV value shown as the open percentage on the valve position bar.

Note: The symbol includes two other custom properties to set the upper and lower limits of the measured value range. Static values of 0 and 100 are used as the values for the lower and upper limits of the range.

  • Create an InTouch application with a window to verify that the symbol has been configured correctly.

To configure a basic SA_Valve_2Way symbol using ArchestrA attributes

  1. Embed the symbol in another symbol in the Industrial Graphic Editor.

  2. Select the symbol.

  3. Right-click on the symbol and select Custom Properties from the shortcut menu to show the Custom Properties dialog box.

  4. Select the EquipStateActive custom property from the list and click the Galaxy Browser button to the right of the Default Value field.

  5. Click the Attribute Browser tab and select an attribute from the list to assign to the custom property.

  6. Assign a Boolean reference value to the EquipStateActive custom property and click OK.

  7. Continue at Step 13 of this procedure

Specific steps to configure a basic analog 2Way valve symbol

  8. Set the ValveType Wizard option to Analog.

  9. Select the PV custom property from the list and click the Galaxy Browser button to the right of the Default Value field.

  10. Assign a Double attribute as the reference value for the PV custom property and click OK.

  11. Assign 100 as the value of the PVMax custom property.

  12. Assign 0 as the value of the PVMin custom property and click OK.

  13. Save the symbol and check it in.

  14. If necessary, deploy the Galaxy containing the object with attributes that are used as reference values of the custom properties.

  15. Double-click an instance of InTouch ViewApp to start WindowMaker.

  16. Create a new InTouch window and embed the symbol containing the 2Way valve symbol.

  17. Run the application in WindowViewer to verify that your basic symbol configuration works correctly.
