Configure a basic SA_Meters symbol using InTouch tags

The basic configuration of the SA_Meters symbol is a flow meter oriented vertically with a descriptive label and a numeric measured value that appears next to the meter bar.

To configure a basic SA_Meters symbol, you only need to assign reference values to three custom properties and set strings for the symbol's label and engineering units.

• PV

• PVRangeFullScaleMax

• PVRangeFullScaleMin

Prerequisites

This procedure explains how to configure a basic SA_Meters symbol using references to an InTouch tag with dotfields. To follow the steps of this procedure, create an InTouch tag that meets the following requirements:

• I/O Real tag named PV

• Create an InTouch application with a window to verify that the symbol has been configured correctly.

To configure a basic SA_Meters symbol using InTouch tags

1. Drop the symbol in a WindowMaker window.

2. Double-click on the symbol to show the Edit Symbol Properties dialog box.

3. Click the Custom Properties tab to show the default custom properties.

4. Click the Browse Galaxy button to the right of the Default Value field

5. Assign the PV InTouch tag as the reference value of the PV custom property.

6. Assign static values or InTouch tag dotfields to the PVRangeFullScaleMax and PVRangeFullScaleMin custom properties.

   These two custom properties set the maximum and minimum limits of the meter's range of values. The dotfield names are MaxEU and MinEU.

7. If you want, you can optionally change the Label that appears above the symbol and assign a different unit of measure to the EU label.

   1. Right-click on the symbol and select Substitute Strings from the shortcut menu.

   2. Assign different names for Label and EU.

   3. Click OK.

8. Save your changes.

9. Run the application containing the SA_Meters symbol in WindowViewer to verify that your configuration changes are correct.
