Configure a basic SA_Valve_3Way symbol using InTouch tags

The basic configuration of a SA_Valve_3Way symbol is discrete valve with three ports. Three Boolean custom properties needs to be configured to show the active and passive states of the symbol's ports. The basic configuration of an analog SA_Valve_3Way symbol requires you to set three additional custom properties to show the valve open percentage on the symbol's valve position bar.

The steps to configure a basic discrete or analog 3Way valve symbol are explained in the following procedure. A caption within the procedure identifies the additional steps to assign reference values to the custom properties of an analog valve.

Discrete valve prerequisites

This procedure explains how to configure a basic symbol using a reference to an InTouch tag.

  • Create three Discrete tags.

  • Create an InTouch application with a window to verify that the symbol has been configured correctly.

Analog valve prerequisites

To follow the steps to configure a basic analog valve, create InTouch tags that meet the following requirements:

  • Create three Discrete tags to indicate the state of the valve.

  • Create a Real tag for the valve's PV value shown as the open percentage on the valve position bar.

Note: The symbol includes two other custom properties to set the upper and lower limits of the measured value range. Static values of 0 and 100 are used as the values for the lower and upper limits of the range.

  • Create an InTouch application with a window to verify that the symbol has been configured correctly.

To configure a basic SA_Valve_3Way symbol

  1. Drop the symbol in a WindowMaker window.

  2. Double-click on the symbol to show the Edit Symbol Properties dialog box.

  3. Click the Custom Properties tab to show the default custom properties.

  4. Select EquipStateActivePortA from the list of custom properties.

  5. Click the Browse Galaxy button to the right of the Default Value field to show the Select Tag dialog box.

  6. Assign a Discrete InTouch tag as the reference value of the EquipStateActivePortA custom property and click OK.

  7. Repeat steps 4-6 to assign InTouch tags as the reference values for the EquipStateActivePortB, and EquipStateActivePortC custom properties.

Continue at step 13 of this procedure.

Specific steps to configure a basic analog 3Way valve symbol

  8. Set the ValveType Wizard option to Analog.

  9. Select the PV custom property from the list and click the Browse Galaxy button to the right of the Default Value field.

  10. Assign a Real InTouch tag as the reference value for the PV custom property and click OK.

  11. Assign 100 as the value of the PVMax custom property.

  12. Assign 0 as the value of the PVMin custom property and click OK.

  13. Save your changes.

  14. Run the application containing the symbol in WindowViewer to verify that your configuration changes are correct.
