Configure a basic SA_ParallelControlValve symbol using ArchestrA attributes

The basic configuration of a SA_ParallelControlValve symbol is two parallel non-discrete valves oriented horizontally. Two custom properties need to be configured to show valve opening percentage.

Prerequisites

To follow the steps of this procedure, create ArchestrA objects that meet the following requirements:

  • Create two Double PV field attributes (PV1 and PV2) to represent valve opening percentages.

  • Create an InTouch application with a window to verify that the symbol has been configured correctly.

To configure a basic SA_ParallelControlValve symbol using ArchestrA attributes

  1. Embed the symbol in another symbol in the Industrial Graphic Editor.

  2. Select the symbol.

  3. Right-click on the symbol and select Custom Properties to show the Custom Properties dialog box.

  4. Select the PV1 custom property from the list and click the Galaxy Browser button to the right of the Default Value field.

  5. Click the Attribute Browser tab and select the PV1 attribute from the list to assign to the custom property.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Repeat steps 4-6 to assign the second PV attribute to the PV2 custom property.

  8. If you want, assign an optional string to the symbol's label.

    1. Right-click on the symbol, select Substitute, and then select Substitute Strings.

    2. Enter strings for the different labels and click OK.

  9. Save the symbol and check it in.

  10. Deploy the Galaxy containing the object with attributes that are used as reference values of the custom properties.

  11. Double-click an instance of InTouch ViewApp to start WindowMaker.

  12. Create a new InTouch window and embed the symbol containing the symbol.

  13. Run the application in WindowViewer to verify that your basic symbol configuration works correctly.
