Configure a basic SA_LoopBlock symbol using ArchestrA attributes

The basic configuration of a SA_LoopBlock symbol includes a measured value, its setpoint, and a control meter with fill animation. The symbol's label and engineering unit are shown, but not specified.

Prerequisites

To follow the steps of this procedure, create ArchestrA objects that meet the following requirements:

  • Create three Double PV field attributes to represent a measured value, a control meter value, and a setpoint.

    Note: The basic configuration of the symbol includes the SP custom property, but sets the SPVisible custom property to False to hide it. This procedure includes an additional step to set the SPVisible custom property to True to show the setpoint value

  • Create an InTouch application with a window to verify that the symbol has been configured correctly.

To configure a basic SA_LoopBlock symbol using ArchestrA attributes

  1. Embed the symbol in another symbol in the Industrial Graphic Editor.

  2. Select the symbol.

  3. Right-click on the symbol and select Custom Properties from the shortcut menu to show the Custom Properties dialog box.

  4. Select the PV custom property from the list and click the Galaxy Browser button to the right of the Default Value field.

  5. Click the Attribute Browser tab and select the PV attribute from the list to assign to the custom property.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Repeat steps 4-6 to assign the control meter and setpoint attributes to the ControllerOP and SP custom properties.

  8. Set the SPVisible custom property to True.

  9. If you want, assign an optional string to the symbol's label and engineering unit.

    1. Right-click on the symbol, select Substitute, and then select Substitute Strings.

    2. Enter strings for the different labels and click OK.

  10. Save the symbol and check it in.

  11. If necessary, deploy the Galaxy containing the object with attributes that are used as reference values of the custom properties.

  12. Double-click an instance of InTouch ViewApp to start WindowMaker.

  13. Create a new InTouch window and embed the symbol containing the symbol.

  14. Run the application in WindowViewer to verify that your basic symbol configuration works correctly.
