The Markets page, showing a list of markets and the shares they belong to

Plants may often sell their materials to more than one location. Each of these different locations is a market. A market is usually a geographic area which receives products, and this market has its own demand which must be met by that plant.

Markets are often used in conjunction with sales or prices to define geographic groups for tiered pricing. For example, a plant may produce the same grade of gasoline, but sell to two different geographic regions with different prices. These two tranches are often associated with markets.

See Advanced grids for information on how to search and customize the grid on this page.

To add a market:

  1. Do either of the following:

    • Click Add Market in the Markets group of the Home ribbon tab.

    • Right click anywhere on the grid and choose Add Market from the context menu.

  2. A new row is added to the grid. In the new row, click the cell in the Name column and type a name for the new market.
