AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Create a report

  • Last UpdatedAug 11, 2025
  • 3 minute read

There are three main ways to output data from Plan:

  • Watch sets are the easiest and most flexible way to retrieve specific values from your solutions.

  • Reports are more detailed and use standard templates and analytics to help answer common business questions.

  • You can also use the AVEVA Unified Supply Chain SDK to retrieve data. Please contact AVEVA for more information.

The remainder of this page covers how to create reports.

Create a report using a template

To create any of the standard templated reports provided with Plan:

  1. Open the report manager

Click on the Reporting tab, then click Manage. The Reports dialog box opens.

The Reporting ribbon tab, with the mouse pointer on the Manage button

  2. Add a template

Click Add... in the bottom left of the Reports dialog.

The Reports dialog, with the mouse pointer on the Add button in the bottom left corner

  3. Choose your template

Select one ore more report templates by selecting the check box in the Select column. The ... button lets you change to another template folder, if required.

Decide whether the report should be available locally (that is, only within a single supply chain model) or globally (available for all supply chain models and all users who have permission to view the share where the report definition is saved). This can be changed using the Share column.

The Definition Name (that is, the name of your report) can also be changed from this dialog box, and scrolling right reveals a Comments column.

The Select Templated Reports dialog, with a list of reports and a column of checkboxes to select them

    Once you're done, click OK.

  4. Choose additional settings

Choose additional settings from the Reports dialog:

    • Generate to: Choose which directory you want your generated reports to go. If you leave it blank, reports are generated in your computer's temp folder.

    • Open after generate: if not selected, reports are not opened after generation. This is useful when creating many reports at once.

    • Open in Excel: if not selected, reports open in an internal report viewer, instead of Microsoft Excel. Only partial Excel functionality is available in the viewer. Certain features, such as hyperlinks, may not work.

The Reports dialog, with the Open after generate and Open in Excel options enabled

Once the settings are as you want them, click Close.

  5. Generate your report

Reports can be generated from the Explorer view, an open Plan model, or an open Plan analytic. The report templates from the previous step will have been added to the Reporting tab ribbon. Click to generate the report.

Note that single case reports are disabled if more than one Plan case is selected or an analytic Plan case is selected.

The Reporting ribbon tab, with the mouse pointer on one of the available reports

If Open after Generate (from the previous step) was not selected, click on Show in folder to access the directory where your reports have been generated.

If Open in Excel (from the previous step) was not selected, the report opens in an internal report viewer.

Note: You cannot generate a report without solution results. Therefore, you must optimize your case at least once before generating a report.
Whenever you make a change to your case, optimize it again before creating an updated report.

Troubleshoot reports

When errors occur, a Diagnostic worksheet is added to your report. This worksheet allows you to troubleshoot problems such as:

  • No solution results or out of date solution results because of model edits.

  • Wrong template type for the current model. For example, Plan template for Network model.

  • Unknown report tags.
