AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Outages

If a unit in your plant is unavailable for a given period, add an outage to the Gantt chart in the Display page to represent this in the schedule.

Note: If an outage overlaps with an activity for the same asset, a warning appears after simulation for the overlap period. The simulation does not change the activity to avoid the outage period: you must do so manually or optimize the schedule via Schedule AI Assistant, for which you need a valid subscription.

To add an outage:

  1. In the Gantt chart, find the row corresponding to the relevant plant asset.

  2. Right-click the row at the approximate date and time when the outage starts. You do not have to be precise, since you can edit the outage afterwards.

  3. Choose Add Outage from the context menu. An outage of default duration is added to the row.

  4. Edit the new outage as described below.

You can edit an outage just like any other element on the Gantt chart:

  • Click and drag to move the outage along the time axis.

  • Click and drag either end of the outage bar to change the duration of the outage by varying the start or end time.

In addition, the Outage Inspector or the Overview Inspector allow you more fine-grained control:

  • Edit the Name and Description of the outage.

  • Change the Start Date and End Date of the outage, and the corresponding times. When you do so, the Duration value is adjusted automatically.

  • Change the Duration of the outage and optionally its unit of measure. You can choose among days, hours and minutes. When you change the duration, the End Date is adjusted automatically.

Note: If an outage overlaps with an activity for the same asset, a warning appears after simulation for the overlap period. The simulation does not change the activity to avoid the outage period: you must do so manually or optimize the schedule via Schedule AI Assistant, for which you need a valid subscription.
