The Baseline tab of the Reconciliation Environment, showing a table with baseline data for assets

A baseline is a snapshot of the scheduling case, as represented by tank amounts, compositions and property values, at a certain time during the scheduling period.

Baselines are useful to capture the status of the scheduling case before making changes, so that you can easily compare relevant quantities before and after the changes.

Note: AVEVA recommends that you ensure your database is up to date, by synchronizing your database using the Synchronize pane, before taking a baseline. For more details, see Multi User Collaboration.

The Baselines tab is the same as the Baselines page in the main scheduling environment.

You can use a baseline in the following ways:

  • In the Settings tab, you can choose to retrieve data from the staging database since the last baseline by selecting Since last baseline from the Time drop-down menu.

  • In the Charts pane (opened by clicking the Charts button in the Panes group of the Home ribbon tab) you can choose to show baseline times as vertical lines by clicking the Show baseline times icon (Show baseline times icon).

  • In the Baseline tab, you can override simulated values by entering new values in the Value column.

Manage baselines

To create a baseline, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Plus button button. The Add New Baseline dialog opens.

  2. Clear the Active check box if you want the baseline to be inactive. You can always change the active status later.

  3. In the Time field enter the date and time of the baseline in the scheduling period.

  4. Enter a Name for the baseline. The default name is the date and time of the baseline.

  5. Optionally, enter a Description for the baseline.

  6. Click OK. The Add New Baseline window closes and the new baseline is created.

To edit an existing baseline, select it in the drop-down menu and click the Edit button button. The Edit Baseline window opens, which has the same fields as the Add New Baseline window.

To delete a baseline, select it in the drop-down menu and click the Delete button button.

Item

Description

Source

The source asset of the measurement.

Destination

The destination asset of the measurement.

Type

The type of measurement. Can be one of the following:

  • Composition: the ratio of a given material in the source tank.

  • Property: a property value.

  • Tank Inventory: the amount of the source tank.

  • Pipeline Inventory: the amount of material in a pipeline batch.

Details

Details on the measurement:

  • For type Composition, the feedstock to which the composition value refers.

  • For type Property, the property name.

  • For type Tank Inventory this value is always set to Inventory.

  • For type Pipeline Inventory, the name of the batch.

UoM

The unit of measure of the value.

Simulated

The value as simulated by the scheduling case.

Snapshot

The value as it was when the baseline was created. This is initially the same as the Simulated value, but the two values may diverge if the scheduling case is modified after the baseline has been created.

Override

An optional value you can enter to override the Snapshot value.

Effective Baseline

The effective baseline values. These correspond to the Snapshot values or, when present, to the Override values.
