Preview of the new simulator

A new simulator is available via the Hybrid Schedule simulator (preview) optional feature. The word hybrid refers to the fact that you can choose whether each assets is managed by the new simulator or by the classic simulator, within the limitations described in the linked topic.

The new simulator offers a big performance improvement compared to the current one. It is offered as a preview feature to let you compare your results, evaluate performance gains and communicate any issues to AVEVA.

The Hybrid Schedule simulator (preview) feature is disabled by default. When you enable it, the icon of the Simulate button in the Simulation group of the Home ribbon tab changes, so you can know at a glance which setting is enabled.

In addition, the New Simulator column appears in the Topology page. Select a check box in the New Simulator column to assign the corresponding asset to the new simulator.

If you change the simulator assigned to a stream of a distillation unit, all the other streams of the unit are changed accordingly.

Cells in the New Simulator column are not active for assets of type Process Unit and Blender, since these are not yet supported by the new simulator.

Your choices are validated in real time, with any issues shown in the Validations pane, available in the Display page. As long as there are unresolved issues, the Simulate ribbon button is disabled.
