The Case Comparison window lets you see the differences between cases. The behavior of the Case Comparison window differs according to the environment in which you open it:
-
If opened in the Plan or Network environment, the Case Comparison window shows differences between the master case and the subcase selected in the Case drop-down menu.
-
If opened in the Case Stack environment, the Case Comparison window shows the differences among all the cases included in the stack.
Compare your master case with subcases
A subcases inherits all the settings of its parent cases, unless the settings are overridden.
To see which values have been overridden in a subcase:
-
Open your master case from the Model Explorer.
-
Select a subcase from the Case drop-down menu in the left-hand pane.
-
Click Case Comparison in the Views group of the Home ribbon tab.

Each case in the comparison corresponds to a column in the grid. Values that differ in one or more cases are shown for all cases.

Items present in some cases but missing in others are identified as follows:
-
The
icon at the start of a row indicates that an item has been added at a lower level
in the hierarchy. For each case column, the labels True and False indicate that the item is present or absent in that case, respectively.

The

in the hierarchy. For each case column, the labels True and False indicate that the item is present or absent in that case, respectively.
Tip: If an item does not exist at other levels of the case hierarchy, to use the item at these levels you must add it using Update Case.
For example, if a new constraint was created in a grandchild case, this constraint would not be available in the master case. To move the constraint to the master case, use Update Case to change the level of the hierarchy where the constraint first applies. All children of this level will then be able to access the constraint.
Differences are shown as groups of rows in a hierarchy, which makes it easier to locate the modified value within the case. For example, the following image shows that the Notes column in the New York Demand row of the Nodes grid has been changed in the Sub Case - 1 subcase.

Edit values. You can edit the values shown in the Case Comparison window in their cases of origin. The view is updated in the background, so it shows new differences as you edit the cases. You can also edit values directly in the Case Comparison window if the corresponding cell background is white. Click the cell and type a new value, or select/clear a check box.
Delta values
The Case Comparison window shows all overridden values (Deltas) between your master case and subcases. To display overridden values on a grid, click the Show button in the Deltas group of the Home ribbon tab.
Cells with overridden values are highlighted by a small blue triangle in the top right corner. Hover your mouse pointer over the cell to display a tooltip showing the original value in the master case.

To restore one or more cells with overridden values to the original values in the master case, select the cells then click Restore in the Deltas group of the Home ribbon tab.
