Generate liftings

When you have defined an export, you can use the Generate Liftings feature to let Schedule define for you the blend and activities needed to add the right materials to the cargo parcels.

For this feature to work correctly, the export must have been created with sufficient detail, namely:

  • The cargo must have at least one parcel with a grade and non-zero amount defined.

  • The feed must be connected to a tank with the service corresponding to the material grade to be loaded. There must also be a blender upstream of the tank.

The feed can also be connected to a manifold if the Product lifting manifold support optional feature is enabled. Note that this feature is designed to work with the manifold configuration set to give zero flow to the export feed. There is no requirement to have an upstream blender if the source is a manifold.

The default is for the Product lifting manifold support optional feature to be disabled.

Follow these steps to generate a lifting:

  1. Select one or more exports

Select one or more exports in the Exports page.

  2. Open the Generate Liftings window

Click the Generate button in the Exports group of the Home ribbon tab. This button is active only when one or more exports are generated.

    The Generate Liftings dialog opens.

Tip: Alternatively, you can select an export in the Tabular or Gantt pane, open the Export Inspector and click Generate Liftings in the Filling pane.

  3. Review the proposed liftings and diagnostic messages

The upper pane of the Generate Liftings dialog lists the blends and lifting activities that will be generated. The only entries you can edit are in the Time to Lifting (h) column. This represents the number of hours before the blend in a tank is loaded onto the vessel. By default it is the same as the Time to Available (h) value, which is the time needed for the tank to reach the Available status.

The lower pane lists diagnostic messages. These are useful to check why a lifting has not been generated for an export. This could be due to the feed not being connected to a tank with the correct service, for example. If you want to correct these errors before generating liftings again, click Cancel to close the window without making changes.

  4. Click OK

When you are happy with the list of proposed changes, click OK. The dialog closes and Schedule creates all the necessary blends and activities. You can then review and edit these additions in the Tabular or Gantt pane.
