AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Configure your flowsheet

Create the topology of your model in the Flowsheet page. Define which process units are present in your plant, and how they are linked together.

A model has only one flowsheet. All cases use the same master flowsheet, and any changes to the master flowsheet are carried through to the subcases. If different flowsheets are required to model different topologies, use different models.

You cannot change the flowsheet connections within a child case. You cannot edit the pipes connecting assets, or add and delete assets, in child cases. You can however activate/deactivate process units within a child case, and also allow/disallow flow through pipes.

To configure a flowsheet:

  1. Drag the process units you need from the Toolbox pane onto the canvas.

  2. Configure the number of inputs and outputs on each process unit. Usually this is required only for distillation units, mixers, blenders, splitters and manifolds.

  3. Connect the outputs from each process unit to the inputs of their downstream units.

  4. End the outputs from blending units to the Sales pool.

These steps are explained in more detail in Manage your Assets.

Zoom and pan around the flowsheet

Zoom in and out in any of the following ways:

  • Use the controls near the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Hold down the Ctrl key and scroll your mouse wheel.

  • Press Ctrl + + and Ctrl + -.

To reset the zoom level to 100%, either:

  • Click the zoom percentage value next to the zoom slider near the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Press Ctrl + 0.

The zoom controls are in the bottom right of the application:

To pan around the flowsheet, right-click and drag your mouse.

Undock the flowsheet

Click the Flowsheet button in the Views group of the Home ribbon tab to turn the flowsheet into a floating pane. Click the button again to revert to the original Flowsheet page.

When the flowsheet is undocked, you can drag it to a different area of the screen or dock it to another page of the planning environment. The floating flowsheet pane includes a custom ribbon with all the commands found in the original Flowsheet page.

Undocking the flowsheet can be beneficial especially if you use multiple screens. You can have the flowsheet always available on one screen, with the main planning environment on another screen. Double-clicking an asset on the flowsheet opens the relevant page in the planning environment, as usual, but the flowsheet remains visible. You no longer have to switch between the Flowsheet page and other pages.

When the Validation option is enabled on the undocked flowsheet, you can edit your case on another page and immediately see whether your changes cause any validation warnings or errors.
