Feedstock properties

The Feedstock Properties page summarizes the non-crude feedstocks used in the case and shows the properties of these feedstocks. Feedstocks are used to define imports and inventories.

Filter the feedstocks displayed in the table by typing in the Feedstocks text field. Only the feedstocks whose names contain the characters you have typed are shown.

Additional filtering is available by hovering the mouse pointer on a column header and clicking the small funnel icon appearing at the top right corner of the header cell. A list of filtering options then appears. You can also create advanced filters by right-clicking on a column header and choosing Filter Editor from the context menu.

See Advanced Grids for more information on the features of the grid used in the Feedstock Properties page.

Note: Feedstocks created in the model are only available within that model. You may wish instead to create the feedstock in the global reference data and import this into the model. Feedstocks created in a model can be published for wider use by exporting them to the global reference data.

Edit feedstocks

When you add feedstocks to a case from the global reference data list, the global set of properties is imported. You can then override these property values in the case. This creates a new feedstock in the case and its descendants.

Tip: You can edit feedstock properties via the Watch Window.

Note: It may take some time for the override to propagate through all descendant cases, especially for large case hierarchies, or where there is a descendant analytic.

Feedstock delta

The Delta view indicates if a value has been overridden in a child case, using a blue triangle in the top right-corner of the cell where the value has been edited.

If a value has been edited, you can restore the original value by clicking Restore in the Deltas group of the Home ribbon tab. This removes the override and resets the cell value to that of the parent case. Note that the parent case value may itself be an override relative to its parent.

Add new feedstocks

To add a new feedstock to the case:

  1. Go to the Feedstock Properties page.

  2. Click the Add Feedstock button in the Feedstock Properties group of the Home ribbon tab. The Add Feedstock dialog box opens.

  3. Enter a Name and Reference for the feedstock.

  4. Choose the Share in which to put the feedstock.

  5. Select an existing Traded Material to associate with the feedstock. If the traded material is not present, you can choose to create a new one with the same name as the feedstock.

  6. Click the Plus button icon to add a new property to the feedstock. Choose the property and the unit of measure (UoM) from the drop-down lists, and enter the property value.

  7. Click OK. The feedstock is added to the page. A new purchase for the feedstock is added to the Imports tab of the Purchases page.

Tip: After adding a new feedstock, the property values for the material can be edited directly in the grid if the property is already present.

Note: Feedstocks can only be edited if they belong to a feedstock group. After adding a new feedstock you must associate it with a group.
