AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Inspect your imports

  • Last UpdatedAug 11, 2025
  • 7 minute read

To show an import's properties, navigate to the Display page and click Inspectors > Import Inspector from the Home ribbon tab. Then, in the Tabular grid, select any of the properties associated with the import (such as the vessel name, amount, or transfers associated with the import), or in the Gantt pane, click the bar of the export, in the relevant feed row. The import Inspector will show you the specific values you are interested in.

The size, position and internal layout of the Inspector are preserved across sessions. These properties are preserved when you close and reopen the Inspector, or Schedule. You do not need to save your case explicitly.

The internal layout properties that are preserved include the following:

  • The size and expanded/collapsed state of panes.

  • The size and position of columns for advanced grids. The settings of legacy Grids are not supported.

The size and position of the Inspectors are preserved separately for each Display. You do not need to enter the Edit Mode of a Display for these settings to be preserved.

If you get a new version of a Display via the Synchronize pane, the local settings for the size and position of the Inspectors are overwritten.

The properties that can be displayed in the import Inspector are described in the next sections.

Item

Description

Start

The date and time the import will arrive (the start of the laycan period).

End

The date and time by which the import discharge must be completed (the end of the laycan period).

Clicking the Update End date/time to discharge end sets the depart time of the export to the current end time of the associated discharge activity.

Cargo

The Cargo pane shows the Total Amount of material in the cargo, and allows you to add and remove feedstocks.

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

To add or remove a feedstock:

  1. Select the feedstock from the drop-down menu.

  2. Click the Plus button button to add the feedstock, or the Delete button button to remove it.

The table in the bottom half of the pane shows the feedstocks currently part of the cargo.

    Item

    Description

    Cargo

The feedstock name. You can change feedstock by clicking anywhere in the cell.

    Parcel

The cargo parcel corresponding to the feedstock. Each separate feedstock in a cargo corresponds to a parcel. Each parcel is identified by an integer number.

    Amount

The amount of feedstock in the cargo, in the same unit of measure as the Total Amount field.

    Discharged

The amount of feedstock discharged from the cargo.

    Remaining

The amount of feedstock still to be discharged.

Discharge

The Discharge pane shows details of the discharge of material from the cargo to the destination assets.

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

The coloured bar at the top of the pane shows the discharge status in the current schedule simulation:

  • Not drawn: no material has been drawn from the cargo.

  • Remaining: [quantity]: part of the material has not been drawn from the cargo.

  • Complete: all the material has been drawn from the cargo.

The following controls allow you to customize the discharge:

  • Begin Discharge Delay: the amount of time between the arrival of the cargo and the beginning of the first discharge.

  • Use Attached Rules: use any rules attached to the asset to create feedstock transfer activities.

  • Apply Rule: click this button to open the Apply Rule dialog. This allows you to apply an existing rule to generate transfer activities.

The table in the bottom half of the pane shows the details of each material transfer.

    Item

    Description

    Type

    The type of activity:

    • Manual activity if the transfer activity is manually generated.

    • Simulation-generated activity if he transfer activity is simulation generated. The row is read only in this case.

    • Rule-generated activity if the transfer activity is rule generated. The row is read only in this case.

    Order

The order in which transfers are executed.

    Parcel

The cargo parcel from which material is drawn. Each separate feedstock in a cargo corresponds to a parcel. Each parcel is identified by an integer number.

    Cargo

    The feedstock to be transferred.

    Destination

The destination asset. Colored yellow or red if the asset is affected by a warning or error condition. Hover your mouse pointer on the cell to display a tooltip with the error message.

    Via

Any intermediate asset via which the transfer is routed.

    Delay

The time delay between operations (if applicable).

    Initial Outflow Destination

The destination for any previous leftover material that is transferred before the import cargo is discharged. It can be the same as the main import destination.

    Ullage (End)

The ullage (free space) remaining in the tank after the transfer has taken place.

    Amount

The amount of material to be transferred.

    Rate

    The rate of material transfer.

To remove a transfer, click the icon at the right end of the corresponding row. Note that rule-generated activities cannot be deleted. See Rules for more information.

You can add a new transfer using the blank row at the bottom of the table. Either:

  • Click the icon at the right end of the row to automatically fill the cells with values. You can then edit individual values.

  • Click the arrow button in the Destination cell to reveal a list of destinations (see the image above). Click the option button next to your chosen destination and click OK. The rest of the row is filled accordingly.

Choose a destination

Click on the Destination column to show list of assets where the current import can be transferred, as configured in the Topology page. Select the required destination asset.

Item

Description

Select

Click to set this asset as the destination.

Destination

The name of the asset. Colored yellow or red if the asset is affected by a warning or error condition. Hover your mouse pointer on the cell to display a tooltip with the error message.

Via

The route between the source and destination.

Status

The current status of the asset.

Service

The current service of the asset.

Ullage (Start)

The ullage (free space) remaining in the destination before the discharge.

Inventory (Start)

The current inventory of the destination before the discharge.

UoM

The unit of measure of amounts.

Entering a discharge via the destination preview automatically creates an associated transfer activity. To set a time delay between the arrival of the import and the start of the discharge activity use the Begin Discharge Delay option to set a time for the delay.

To quickly configure the transfer activity so that it fills the destination asset until its working maximum is reached, or until the cargo parcel is emptied, right click on the transfer row and choose Fill <asset name> to max available from the context menu.

Pipeline discharges

When discharges are routed via pipelines, the destination asset is automatically coupled to the pipeline transfer itself. This means that if the transfer activity itself changes then the associated set of pipeline activities will update to keep the destination asset constant.

Qualities

The Qualities pane shows the values of some key properties for the contents of each parcel in the cargo. Each cargo parcel corresponds to a column.

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

Override qualities

To override a property value shown in the Qualities pane, click the corresponding cell and type the new value.

When a value is overridden, the original value is still shown in the top right corner of the cell. To restore the original value, click the cell and press the Delete key.

Note: When you override a measurement for an assay in an import parcel, the original assay is not updated. Instead a new assay is created, which is local to the scheduling case.
