AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Analytics

Analytics allow you to evaluate planning scenarios. AVEVA Unified Supply Chain contains several types of analytics:

  • Crude Evaluation: used to investigate the effect of adding single crudes to the base blend of a refinery, optimizing the blend of opportunity crude and base blend while allowing price sensitivity analysis based on changes in feedstock and product value.

  • Feedstock Evaluation: used to evaluate candidate feedstocks for a material type, including sensitivity analysis on each candidate. This generalizes the Crude Evaluation analytic. Available for single-plant models.

  • Product Evaluation: used to evaluate the effect of varying product and product tranche production.

  • Sensitivity: used to investigate the effect of changes in feedstock or product pricing. Available for single-plant and multi-plant models.

  • Solution Robustness: used to check how robust a solution is relative to other scenarios.

  • Solution Flexibility: used to investigate how much a variable may vary while keeping your economic objective function within a given range.

  • Multi-Start: used to analyze the results of optimizations from different start points when the multi-start option is enabled.

Note: Analytic cases are created as subcases in a model hierarchy. In an analytic case, pricing and constraint changes for purchases and sales are not inherited from the parent case.
This allows you to build analytic cases that are robust to changes in the parent case and stable when copying and pasting them to other parts of the case tree.

Analytics Calculations

Each analytic may generate hundreds of separate cases depending on your options. Each of these cases is optimized independently and the results displayed within the analytic. Thus, the overall speed of the analytics calculations depends on the number of cases being run, and the speed of optimization of the supply chain model case used as a basis for the analytic.

If configured on your system, it is also possible to use the Calculation Hub. The Calculation Hub distributes the calculations across one or more servers, allowing for faster optimization. When available, the Calculation Hub appears as an option in the drop-down menu next to the Optimize button within the analytic.

These run settings are recommended for analytics:

You can clear all results from an analytic case by clicking Clear Results in the Case Maintenance group of the Tools ribbon tab.

This applies to the results of all the cases in the Case Stack of the analytic.

Copy Analytics

You can copy analytics between cases and between models. Analytics are essentially configurations for cases which are applied to the parent case of the analytic. Therefore, when copying an analytic in the destination, the analytic applies its overrides and settings relative to the new parent.

Warning: As an analytic defines changes relative to a parent case, when copying the analytic only items which are present in the new parent can be affected. For example, a sensitivity analytic may vary the FCC riser temperature based on a calculation. If the analytic is pasted into a different model without an FCC, the sensitivity item will not be applied.
