The Blenders page allows you to configure the following flow rate properties for all the blenders defined in the case:
-
The Default flow rate for each blender. These rates are then used as defaults by the Single Blend Inspector when creating a product blend.
-
The Min and Max flow rate limits outside which a Warning or an Error condition is triggered. A warning or error message appears in the Diagnostics window and the cells corresponding to the blender flow rate turn yellow or red in the Tabular pane.

Bonus blending
Bonus Blending allows a component to have different property values in different blends, and takes into account the differing interactions that blending components have when blended into different products.

Example: Alkylate may be blended into both regular and premium gasoline. However, when blended into these different products, alkylate may, in effect, contribute a different amount of octane to each blend. In effect, alkylate has one octane number when it is blended into regular gasoline, and a different octane number when blended into premium gasoline. Bonus Blending allows the calculated octane of the alkylate to be adjusted separately in each blend, so that the correct octane number of the component, in a blend, is used during blend optimization.
Follow these steps to add a bonus blending entry for a blend component:
-
On the Bonus Blending page click Add in the Bonus Blending group of the Home ribbon tab. The Add New Bonus Blending Specification dialog box opens.
-
Choose the Material Type of the component.
-
Choose the particular Grade where the component will have its blending bonus applied.
-
Choose the particular blending Component where the bonus value will be applied when that component is blended into the selected product.
-
Choose the Property the blending bonus is applied to.
-
Enter the blending Bonus Value. This may be positive or negative.
-
Optionally, enter any Comments explaining the reason for this bonus blend.
-
Click OK. The bonus blending entry is added to the page.
