AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Configure your case

Create and configure planning cases in the planning environment. Each case defines the settings for a particular optimization scenario in the supply chain model.

The planning environment is separated into the following components:

  • The left pane gives you access to different sections of a case. Click an option in the pane to open the relevant page.

  • The work area is divided into pages. Most pages contain Grids or advanced grids, and are sometimes divided into multiple tabs.

  • The ribbon allows navigation between different settings and also features context-sensitive options to enable quick access to features relevant to the workflow in progress.

Process models in Plan represent physical assets in a plant. The models are usually generic representations of real-world process units, which must be further configured before they accurately represent a real plant's assets. The amount of configuration depends on the type of process model. Some models (for example, distillation units) may require little configuration such as setting cut points, whereas other units (for example, reformers) may require editing of the model parameters to match the real unit's operation.

Configuration of a process unit typically involves:

  1. setting the unit's capacity (see: Constraints and Alerts)

  2. adding output properties to streams required by downstream units

  3. configuring any Utilities

  4. adding any required Operating Parameters.

The Overview tab of the Process Units page lists the process units available in your model. For each process unit you can see the list of input and output connections, or sockets.

Note: Ensure that all process units have sensible names, recognizable to those across your business. These names should be unique within the plant for easier reporting and integration.

You can change the order of the input and output sockets by selecting a socket and clicking on the Arrow up button and Arrow down button buttons next to each pane.
