Views let you control which assets are displayed on your flowsheet. Configure different views to show different assets on the flowsheet. For example, one view may show all the process units, whereas a different view shows only blenders. By using views, you can make complex flowsheets more understandable by only showing related units together.

To create a new flowsheet view:

  1. Add a new view

Select the drop-down menu next to the view menu, and from the list select Add View.

The Flowsheet ribbon group with the Add View button pressed to reveal a menu to add, rename, and delete views, and to show grid and snap to grid

  2. Name the new view

In the Add or Edit Flowsheet Layout dialog enter a name for the new view.

    Your view is automatically saved.

  3. Select the assets to include in the view

Click Units List in the Flowsheet group of the Home ribbon tab, then select the assets that should be included in the layout.

You can also hide units from your current view by selecting the unit on the flowsheet and selecting Hide Element from the context menu.

To show a hidden asset that is the source or destination of a pipe, right-click on the round icon at the end of the pipe and choose either Show Source or Show Destination from the context menu.

Create a view from a selection

You can also create a new view from a selection:

  1. Select the assets in the flowsheet that you would like to be in the view.

  2. Right-click one of the selected assets.

  3. Choose Create new View from Selection... from the context menu.

  4. Enter a name for the new view.

    Change your pipe layout

Along with using views to manage complex flowsheets, the pipes on the canvas can also be repositioned to make the process flow diagram easier to see:

    1. Hover the mouse over an existing corner in the pipe until the corner turns to a red circle.

    2. Click the red circle and drag the mouse to move the corner. The pipe will redraw as the corner is moved, inserting new corners if appropriate.

    3. Release the mouse when the new pipe layout is arranged.

Right-click on the corner anchors of a pipe to add or delete anchors, or reset the default path of the pipe.

      Pipes to hidden units

After connecting pipes, or changing the flowsheet layout, icons show the destination of the pipes:

      • Sales icon - pipe diverted to sales

      • Pool icon - pipe diverted to a pool

      • Blender icon - pipe diverted to a blender.
