AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Work with shared data

AVEVA Unified Supply Chain stores data locally in a database, but can also connect to a central server to download shared data. Shared data may be complete models, reference data such as prices or material specifications, or process models to simulate process units.

Shared data are saved in one or more shares. A share is a dedicated area on a server, like a folder, where users can save to and read from. Like folders, shares also have permissions, so that user access can be restricted. Users may have full permission to view and edit the share, may have read-only access to the share, or the share may not be visible at all. User permission for shares is controlled by the AVEVA Unified Supply Chain administrators.

If you get an error while trying to upload or download data, some common causes are the following:

  • Your local database and the server selected in the current profile are not compatible. Edit the profile and make sure you have entered the correct data.

  • Your version of AVEVA Unified Supply Chain does not match the version of the DataLayer software running on the server. Make sure the right server is configured in your profile.

  • You are not signed in with the correct credentials. Check that the expected user name is shown near the top right corner of the Model Explorer window. If you are using CONNECT authentication, make sure you have signed in with the correct credentials.
