Overrides

  • Last UpdatedAug 11, 2025

The Overrides pane, which you can add to any Display, lists all the manually overridden values in the schedule, and lets you add, edit and delete overrides. Overrides can be added manually but are often taken from associated baselines.

The grid columns are described in the following table.

Item

Description

Active

Whether the override is active (check box selected) or not.

Status

Empty unless the override is invalid.

Source

The source asset of the override.

Destination

The destination asset of the override. Defined only for overrides of type Flow or Property, when overriding the property of a material flow between assets.

Type

The type of override. Can be one of the following:

  • Composition: The ratio of a given feedstock in the source tank.

  • Inventory: The amount of material in a tank.

  • Pipeline Inventory: The amount of material in a pipeline batch.

  • Property: A property value, either for the contents of a tank or for the material flowing between two assets.

  • Flow Rate: The flow rate between two assets.

Batch

The batch to which the pipeline inventory refers. Defined only for overrides of type Pipeline Inventory.

Details

Details on the override:

  • For types Composition and Pipeline Inventory, the feedstock to which the overridden value refers.

  • For type Property, the property name.

Start

The start date and time of the override. If blank, the override starts from the beginning of the scheduling period.

End

The end date and time of the override. If blank, the override continues until the end of the scheduling period.

Simulated (Start)

The value as simulated by the scheduling case.

Formula

The override formula applied to the simulated value.

Calculation

The override calculation applied to the simulated value.

Effective Value (Start)

The value after the override has been applied.

UoM

The unit of measure of the simulated and overridden values.

Difference (Start)

The difference between the simulated and the overridden value.

Relative (%, Start)

The percentage difference between the simulated and the overridden value.

Baseline

If this override is part of a baseline, the name of the baseline. You can define overrides as part of a baseline in the Baselines page or in the Reconciliation Environment.

Add overrides

To add an override, use the option buttons to choose between a calculation or formula-defined override.

The options for formula-based overrides are summarized in the following table:

Calculation-based overrides can be defined using calculations that are in use elsewhere in Schedule, or you can define a new calculation. Once you have toggled a property onto a calculation override, a set of icons appears in its cell. Click the icons to add (Green plus), copy (Copy icon) or edit (Rename column icon) a calculation. The drop-down menu to the left of these icons lets you search for, and add, existing calculations to the property you want to override.

If there is a diagnostic error (for example, the units of measurement are wrong), a Warning warning icon appears in the Status column.

Add inventory composition overrides

To override the composition of the material stored in a tank, click the Green plus Add button, toward the top of the overrides pane, and select Inventory Composition:

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

This opens a dialog where you can:

  1. Choose the Asset for which to define the override. The drop-down menu has a text box at the top, in which you can type to filter the list of assets.

  2. Choose the date and time from which the override takes effect.

  3. Choose the basis for measuring the component ratios, either Weight or Volume.

  4. Use the Plus button , Edit button and Delete button buttons to add, edit and delete feedstocks to the list.

  5. Click Add to add the override. You can then define and add another override, or click Close to exit the dialog window.

Add inventory or property overrides

To override the inventory of a tank or a property of its contents, click the Green plus Add button, toward the top of the overrides pane, and select Inventory or Property:

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

This opens a dialog box where you can:

  1. Choose the Asset for which to define the override. The drop-down menu has a text box at the top, in which you can type to filter the list of assets.

  2. Choose the date and time from which the override takes effect.

  3. Choose the Property to override. Like in the Asset drop-down menu, there is a text box for quickly filtering the list. Choose Inventory if you want to override the amount of material in the tank.

  4. Enter the new Formula for the property value and choose the unit of measure, or choose from an existing calculation within Schedule.

  5. Click Add to add the override. You can then define and add another override, or click Close to exit the dialog window.

Add flow rate or property overrides

To override the flow rate of material between assets, or a property of the material flowing between assets, click the Green plus Add button, toward the top of the overrides pane, and select Flow Rate or Property:

    Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

This opens a dialog box where you can:

    1. Choose the Source asset of the flow. Use the text box at the top of the drop-down menu to quickly filter the list of assets. Leave the <Any> option selected to override the flow of material from all source assets to a given destination asset.

    2. Choose the Destination asset of the flow. Use the text box at the top of the drop-down menu to quickly filter the list of assets. Leave the <Any> option selected to override the flow of material to all destination assets from a given source asset. Note that you will not be able to add an override if you set both the Source and Destination options to <Any>.

    3. Choose the Start date and time for the override. Clear the check box if you want the override to start from the beginning of the scheduling period.

    4. Choose the End date and time for the override. Clear the check box if you want the override to last until the end of the scheduling period.

    5. Choose the Property to override. Like in the Source and Destination drop-down menus, there is a text box for quickly filtering the list. Choose Flow Rate if you want to override the flow rate of material between the assets.

    6. Enter the new Formula for the property value and choose the unit of measure, or choose from an existing calculation or time-based parameter within Schedule.

    7. Click Add to add the override. You can then define and add another override, or click Close to exit the dialog window.

      2. In the Time field, enter the date and time from which the override takes effect.

      3. Click the Plus button button to add a batch to the pipeline. Choose the Feedstock type and the Amount, together with the unit of measure. Choose the batch number in the Batch column. Note that you can have multiple feedstocks in the same batch.

      4. Add more feedstocks if needed. To delete a feedstock, select the corresponding row and click the Delete button button.

      5. In the bottom pane, choose a Destination for each batch. If available, choose a route to the destination in the Via column. Optionally, choose a custom Name and Color for each batch.

      6. Click Add to add the override. You can then define and add another override, or click Close to exit the dialog window.
