AVEVA™ Unified Supply Chain

Asset configurations

You can define one or more configurations for distillation units, Base + Delta process units, manifolds, blenders and pipelines.

A configuration is a way of operating a process unit, and may be closely associated with a mode for that unit. During the scheduling period, a unit may have one or more configurations, or may be inactive. When a unit is operating it must have an associated configuration. A unit can only have one active configuration at a time.

The configuration defines the operating parameters for a process unit, and the time window for which these parameters are in use.

The configurable parameters depend on the asset you are working with. For example, for a distillation unit the parameters include the cut points and fractionation indices.

Within a configuration it is possible to manually set all the details of the operating state, or alternatively it is possible to target particular details.

You can also view the details of a configuration in the Gantt pane. It may be necessary to expand the asset view to see the configuration information.

Double-click on the configuration to open the Configuration Inspector. You can then edit your configuration (such as the duration, and the blends that make up your configuration) via the Inspector.

The size, position and internal layout of the Inspector are preserved across sessions. These properties are preserved when you close and reopen the Inspector, or Schedule. You do not need to save your case explicitly.

The internal layout properties that are preserved include the following:

  • The size and expanded/collapsed state of panes.

  • The size and position of columns for advanced grids. The settings of legacy Grids are not supported.

The size and position of the Inspectors are preserved separately for each Display. You do not need to enter the Edit Mode of a Display for these settings to be preserved.

If you get a new version of a Display via the Synchronize pane, the local settings for the size and position of the Inspectors are overwritten.

Overrides

By default, a configuration takes the operating parameter settings from an associated mode. Within the configuration these parameters may be overridden to define the actual operating conditions for the unit over the period of time when the configuration is active. If a different set of operating conditions is required for a time period, then these must be defined as another configuration.

When default mode settings are overridden in a configuration, the original parameter settings are shown as a superscript in the Configuration Inspector and also in the Tabular pane.
