Follow these steps to search for schedules with Schedule AI Assistant.

Note: Your computer must be connected to the internet to use Schedule AI Assistant.

  1. Make sure you have prepared your scheduling case in the desktop environment as described in the linked topic.

  2. Open Schedule AI Assistant by clicking Schedule AI Assistant in the Home ribbon tab.

If you have not simulated the schedule, a warning appears. Click No and simulate the schedule, then click the Schedule AI Assistant button again.

Note that you can click Yes to start Schedule AI Assistant anyway. This is useful to carry out tasks other than searching for schedules, such as configuring advanced settings.

  3. If this is the first time you use Schedule AI Assistant, or if you are working from a new profile, the CONNECT sign-in window appears. Enter your credentials and click Sign In to continue. The Schedule Assistant window opens.

  4. If your account is associated to multiple sites, and you have not selected a site yet, the Select a site dialog box opens. Choose one of the listed sites to continue. The Setup page opens.

Select a site dialog with list of CONNECT sites to choose from

The Select a site dialog box will not appear when you next open Schedule AI Assistant. You can switch sites by clicking the three bars icon (Three horizontal bars icon) in the top right corner of the main Schedule AI Assistant window and choosing a site from the list. Note that the icon is not visible if your account is associated to a single site.

  5. Review the current schedule in the Gantt chart on the Setup page, and make sure it is as expected. If you notice missing assets or activities, it may be because you did not simulate the schedule or selected a different Display than intended. Assets without activities would also be missing.

If needed, close the Schedule Assistant window and make any necessary changes in the Display page of the scheduling environment.

  6. Review the settings in the My Setup pane and make changes if desired.

  7. Review the prices in the Sales Prices pane and make changes if desired.

  8. Click Search in the bottom right corner of the window. Schedule AI Assistant searches for the best schedules compatible with the topology and constraints in your case. The time needed depends on the complexity of the schedule, on the number of samples you have chosen and on the current load on cloud resources.

  9. If an issue occurs, the Results Summary page shows an error message. Close Schedule AI Assistant and go back to the scheduling environment to resolve the issue.

Diagnostic messages are shown for the following types of issues:

    • Unsupported recycles.

    • Non-modeled property constraints.

    • Incorrectly connected or orphaned assets.

Optimization Failed message showing the reason for the failure

If the search completes successfully, the Results Summary page shows a list of results. The best results tend to be those at the top of the list. Depending on the complexity of the case and the constraints you have imposed, there may be varying degrees of difference among the proposed results.

Depending on your configuration, you may see additional columns with metrics that help you evaluate how the proposed results differ. You can sort the list of results by multiple metrics by holding the Shift key and clicking the arrows icon next to each column header. The icons then change to show the order and direction of sorting.

A green disc in a row means that there are no violations for the corresponding schedule. A red disc means that there are one or more violations.

Click one of the available results to move to the Analysis page.

  10. In the Analysis page, the Gantt chart shows the result you selected. Review the schedule and switch to other results via the View Result list.

  11. If there are any violations, you can examine them in the Violations pane below the Gantt chart. Click the Violations label near the top right corner of the Gantt chart to scroll to the Violations pane. You can sort, filter and hide the columns in this pane to suit your preferences.

  12. You can also create and configure graphs to analyze each schedule in more detail.

  13. When you have found a result you are satisfied with, click Apply Schedule to close Schedule AI Assistant and apply the selected result to your scheduling case. Otherwise, click Exit to close Schedule AI Assistant without making changes to the scheduling case.

  14. If you have chosen to apply a result, you can now simulate the applied schedule back in the scheduling environment.

To return to the setup page without choosing a schedule, click the Setup link. The settings are initially locked, but you can click Create New Schedule AI Assistant Run to make them available again. Note that this discards your list of recommended schedules.

Troubleshooting

If Schedule AI Assistant encounters an issue while optimizing your case, a feedback message appears, which includes a request ID. Click the Copy icon icon to copy the ID, and make sure you quote it when sending your feedback to AVEVA about the issue. Quoting the request ID will speed up the investigation and resolution of your issue.
