Import and export process models

You can now export and import process models from the Process Models page in the Reference Data tab of the Model Explorer.

Exporting a process model allows you to easily store it offline and share it with other users, who can then import it into their reference data, even if they synchronize to a different DataLayer server.

You have the option to password protect the exported file so that it cannot be imported without knowing the password. In addition, the contents of the process model remain hidden even after it has been imported. On the Process Units page of the Plan environment, the Enable Edit button is disabled in the Process Model tab, and the model details are hidden in the Model Structure tab. If a password-protected process model is copied, the copy retains the same level of protection.

Exporting password-protected models allows you to collaborate with users outside your organization while protecting your sensitive data.

Two new buttons have been added to the Process Models group of the Home ribbon tab to import and export models. To export a model, you can also right-click the corresponding row on the grid and choose Export Model from the context menu.

When importing a process model, AVEVA Unified Supply Chain checks that all the reference data items needed by the model (such as traded materials and process unit types) are present. In case of missing blend rules or properties, you can map the missing items onto suitable alternative items of your choice.

For more information on the workflows to import and export process models, see the Import and Export Process Models section in the Model Explorer > Global Reference Data > Process Models help topic.

Process models page improvements

In addition to the ability to import and export process models, the Process Models page has been updated with a new advanced grid.

The update includes features such as improved sorting, filtering and reordering of columns, already available in other advanced grids throughout AVEVA Unified Supply Chain.

The most notable changes are the following:

  • Adding, editing and copying process models no longer involves entering data in separate dialogs. All edits are done directly in the grid, making your workflow simpler and more efficient.

  • Read-only cells are now identified by a gray background, while editable cells have a white background.

  • The Filter drop-down list above the table is replaced by a new filter you can show by clicking Find in the Grid group of the Home ribbon tab. In addition, filtering is available for each column: hover your mouse pointer over a column header and click the small funnel icon that appears.

  • The same views as before are available, with the Standard view renamed to Default. Views are now selected from the View list in the Grid group of the Home ribbon tab. Previously, views were selected from the View drop-down list above the table.
