Create a product evaluation analytic

  • Last UpdatedAug 11, 2025
  • 3 minute read

The Product Evaluation analytic allows you to investigate the effect of varying product and product tranche production. There are two main workflows for analytics based on product evaluation:

  • In product loading, you force the sale of an amount of product to review the effect on your economics.

  • In product reduction, you remove the sale of a particular product to review the effect on your economics.

To create a Product Evaluation analytic:

  1. Select the case you wish to use as the basis for evaluation products.

  2. Click the Add Analytic > Product Evaluation icon of the Cases group on the Home ribbon tab.

Product loading

In product loading, you force the sale of an amount of product to review the effect on your economics.

  1. Define the product slate

In the Product Slate page, select the Active check box for all the products in the current plant configuration.

  2. Choose the candidate products

Select the product tranches whose production will be forced. Enter the Fixed quantity and the Price of each tranche.

  3. Review the case stack

Review the Case Stack page to make sure that the list of cases to be optimized corresponds to what you are expecting.

  4. Run the cases and analyze the results

Run the optimization and review the Economics Detail and other pages to understand the effect of adding each product to the plant configuration.

    Product reduction

In product reduction, you remove the sale of a particular product to review the effect on your economics.

    1. Set up product slate

Configure the product slate so that all the products can be manufactured.

    2. Set up product tranche candidates

Configure the candidates so that all the products are included as candidates. Make sure each product is active, but with the Product Slate option inactive. This means a case will be run with this product included as an extra tranche, but in that case the default tranche will not be active.

    3. Configure candidate amounts

Ensure the candidate amounts are set to 0. As the normal product is not active, and the tranche is set to zero, the product can not be manufactured in that case.

    4. Run cases

      Run the optimization.

    5. Check purchase amounts

Go to the Stack View page to examine the production amounts. Check that the products have been removed as expected in each run.

Go to the Product Mix Chart page to compare the product mix in each run.
