System accounts for OSM internal use

There are some user accounts that are reserved for OSM system use. These are OSM internal users.

COWAPP

The cowapp account is the application user for OSM Administration. In a new system, this is the only user that has access to OSM Administration. You can use this account to create other users in system. When you have created other user accounts with admin privileges, the password should be changed from default and strictly controlled to only a few people.

The cowapp user has access to the following in the OSM Administration application.

  • Sign-in access to OSM Administration.

  • Read-only access to all main menu functions in OSM Administration.

  • Read-only access to system management functions in OSM Administration, with write privileges to the following functions:

    • Entities and workflow

    • Users

    • Application settings

    • Attachment classes

    • Languages

Note: The cowapp user does not have sign-in access to the OSM Web Application. In earlier versions, cowapp did have access to the web application; however, this access has been restricted for security reasons.

COWDBUSER

The cowdbuser account provides the ID that makes changes to the database for automated operations and jobs.

It is not possible to login to this account.

COWHIST

AVEVA Solutions can implement the cowhist user to replace old user accounts that have been deleted from the system. This user can only be implemented by AVEVA Solutions.

It is not possible to login to this account.

COWMAIL

The cowmail user provides the ID that sends automated e-mails from the OSM system.

It is not possible to login to this account.

COWTEMPL

The cowtempl user provides the ID that holds the values for default settings, such as General Settings, in the web application.

It is not possible to login to this account.
