For most users, it is not possible to edit the default prefixes for entities, or the number of numerical digits in the generated ID number.
For example, WP-000000 shows combined prefix and digits. However, the COW Application User account has privileges to do this.
Notes on prefix
-
Can only be done from COW Application User account. Only changes prefix forward in time, does not go backwards and change old ones.
-
The character limit on prefix is 16 characters. The invalid characters are also shown on screen.
Invalid characters

You may want to add the prefix to the year, such as WP-2020-
Increasing digits

Digits refers to the numerical digits that appear after the prefix in the ID number, such as 00000.
-
A possible reason for increasing digits, is if your site uses up all digits, such as 5 digits 99999, then the solution is to increase number of digits to 6 or 7.
