Template users

A template user is primarily a dummy account that is configured with the roles and access for a specific job role, in order to use the Copy configuration from another user function to transfer the role and access configuration to another new user. Usually, this would be a new user account.

A template user is similar to a system user in that it cannot be used for logon.

Guidelines

  • A user can be an Active user or a Template user, but not both.

  • It is not possible to login with a template account. A template user cannot log in to OSM web application or to OSM Administration.

Create a Template user

Create a user as you usually would; however select the Template checkbox, instead of the Active checkbox.

Convert an Active user to a Template user

You can convert a user from an Active user to a Template user by clearing Active and selecting Template without saving in between.

Note: If you clear the Template checkbox, the user account loses all configuration.
