System accounts for Oracle use

Creating an OSM database is managed entirely through the OSM Database Tools software.

During the Create New OSM Database process, the following Oracle system users are created:

• cow_owner

• cow_read

• cow_user

These Oracle system accounts are exclusively for accessing the OSM database.

Passwords for Oracle accounts

Passwords for Oracle system accounts can be changed EITHER in OSM Database Tools software OR by the DBA (Database Administrator) using standard Oracle software; for example, SQLPlus.

Important: Changing the password for Oracle account cow_user after installing OSM Web application and/or OSM Administration application will cause you to need to reinstall OSM Administration, Web Application, and Mobile applications with the new cow_user password.
