Change arguments on business rules

  • Last UpdatedSep 26, 2024
  • 2 minute read

Some business rules have the possibility to have arguments. Most business rules will not have arguments. However, in some cases, arguments are needed for certain business rules. They can be added only by AVEVA.

  • Standard business rules – Argument may be added by OSM during upgrade.

  • Customer business rules – Argument may be added by AVEVA and included in a business rule deployment package.

If your business rule has added arguments, you have the ability to change the arguments.

Customer business rules

In a small subset of Customer business rules, it is possible for them to have editable arguments.

The syntax for each business rule will be different. Typically, it will be a <key>=<value> pair.

  • Key – textToBeAdded

  • Value – [DEPRECATED]

The available keys will depend on the keys that are built into the business rule. A value that is a text string can be any text.

Example from PDF document

The arguments for each business rule are defined in the custom PDF document that was supplied with your customer business rules.

Example of business rule arguments

In this example, COP-60a / Add certain text to title, the key might be textToBeAdded and the value is [DELEGATE]. The value can be whatever text you want to be added to title (maximum 240 characters including square brackets). The square brackets must be included.

Edit arguments

  • Right-click a business rule and select Change arguments.

Standard business rules

Not all business rules support arguments. Some do, some don’t. Most standard business rules don’t have arguments and don’t use arguments.

If you select Change arguments on a business rule that does not have arguments, you will see message.
