A KKS tagging convention compatible project can be configured for use with AVEVA P&ID. This example uses the KKS_SAMPLE project delivered with AVEVA P&ID which is stored in the following location:

<<Drive>>:\Users\Public\Documents\AVEVA\AVEVA P&ID\12.2.SP2\Projects\KKS_SAMPLE

It is assumed the KKS_SAMPLE project has been upgraded for use with the workstation by a P&ID Administrator using the Project Wizard.

  1. Launch AVEVA P&ID using the KKS_SAMPLE project.

  2. Open the Project Administrator.

  3. Navigate to the Pipes - Settings sub-category and create a rule to inherit an equipment attribute directly into a connected pipe.

  4. Navigate to the Valves- Automatic Tag Format sub category and setup two tags (display and default) with a mix of valves and pipe attributes. Set the purpose of valve tag symbols at the drawing with a shortened value and report them at the valve list with a longer value.

  5. Navigate to the Instrument- Settings sub category and define the data propagation between connected tag items for:

    • Connected instruments.

    • Equipment connected to instruments.

    • Pipes or piping components connected to instruments.

  6. To support a tag format with more than 6 attributes, use the INSTRUMENT_TAG dataset.

  7. To add additional attributes required by the tag rule, populate the Block Field DataSet / Sheet Attributes and Function Field DataSet / Sheet Attributes fields.

  8. Navigate to the List of Values category and select Instrument Label Positional Data from the drop-down list.

  9. Define the location of annotations for individual instrument type symbols including measurement balloons, actuators, control valves etc.

  10. Navigate to the Instruments - Labels - Instrument Label Format sub category and click Select Instrument Format Fields to display the Select a Tag Format dialog.

  11. Setup multiple tag formats for the purpose of annotating drawings and reporting.

  12. Navigate to the Equipment- Settings sub category and define the data propagation between connected tag items.

  13. To support a tag format with more than 6 attributes, use the EQUIPMENT_TAG dataset.

  14. Setup the symbols to work with the KKS_SAMPLE project.

    • The example displays a piping valve symbol (see the piping valve symbol delivered with the project).

    • The example displays an instrument valve symbol (see the SPV symbol delivered with the project).

    • The example displays an actuator (see the DIAPH1 symbol delivered with the project).

    • The example displays a measurement balloon (see the KKS_INS_SHORT_TAG symbol delivered with the project).

    • Symbol pings are delivered as parametric symbols of start nodes, nozzles, and other piping symbols.

    • For annotation symbols for pipes and equipment, insert individual text annotations on the drawing and decoration box symbols, then create pipes and equipment UDA assemblies with them.

    • Add the assemblies as Favourites to make them more accessible for insertion and use them to annotate pipes and equipment using a drag and drop action.

  15. Optimize the Properties dialog to display the required attributes and position the attribute groups. AVEVA recommends users to set their preferred attributes at each of the Properties dialogs using filters to control attribute visibility and remove unnecessary attributes from the default display.

  16. The example displays a filtered instrument measurement balloon Properties dialog.

  17. To associate instruments with other tag items, right click and select the Associate and Remove Association options from the drop-down menu.
