AVEVA™ P&ID

Turn Automatic Breaks On and Off

This procedure is used to switch on or off the facility which causes a pipe or link to automatically break another pipe or link where they cross.

Associated Project Configuration Options

  • If pipes are to be broken automatically when crossed, the Automatic Breaks ON checkbox, in the Pipes - Settings Sub-Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program must be checked.

  • The break priority, for example whether the horizontal or vertical pipe is broken where a break occurs, is set using the Break Pipe Direction buttons.

  • The width of the gap in a broken pipe is set in the Break Distance field.

  • The symbol chosen to represent the break is selected in the Symbol Name field.

  • The layer into which break symbols are placed is specified in the Symbol Layer field.

  • The colour of the break symbol is set in the Symbol Colour field.

Procedure

  1. Start the procedure by checking or unchecking the BREAK checkbox in the Pipeline group of the Home tab.

  2. Automatic breaks will immediately be switched on or off.
