Tracing may be added to a pipe as it is being drawn, depending on whether or not automatic pipe tracing is on. This is set in the Pipeline group of the Home tab. Changing this setting affects pipes drawn subsequently and a pipe that is being drawn when the setting is changed.
When switched On, tracing in the selected style will appear when a new pipe is drawn. The style of tracing is selected by using the Pipeline group of the Home tab.
Lines previously drawn with no tracing can have tracing applied using an option Pipeline group of the Home tab. Refer to Apply Tracing to Pipes. Inline fittings are automatically traced around, for example, if a pipe consists of multiple components, all components of that pipe will be traced, with no gaps in the tracing between components.
Tracing is applied to entire pipes. If tracing is not required for a segment of pipe, that segment of tracing can subsequently be deleted. When a traced pipe is broken, the tracing is broken also.
When tracing is first applied, the side of a pipe it is applied to depends on the flow direction of the pipe. If required, tracing can subsequently be mirrored, for example, moved to the other side of a pipe. Refer to Mirror Pipe Tracing.
AVEVA P&ID is supplied with two tracing styles, STEAM and ELEC. To add or edit tracing styles, use the Tracing Configuration Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.
