Draw a Pipe from a Selected Nozzle

  • Last UpdatedMar 14, 2024
  • 2 minute read

This procedure is used to draw a pipe directly from a selected nozzle.

The selected nozzle must contain a valid single port that is available for connection. The pipeline will start at the available nozzle connection port.

Note: The Draw a Pipe option will only be available if the selected nozzle does not already have pipelines connected to it and the nozzle contains a valid single port connected to it. If this condition is not met, the Draw a Pipe option is disabled.

The pipe is drawn in the current style and with the current tracing and end styles.

Procedure

  1. Start the procedure by selecting the nozzle, right-click and select the Draw a Pipe option from the shortcut menu.

  2. The Command prompt will then display:

Pick any point to start Main Pipe from the nozzle:

One end of the pipe is connected to the nozzle.

  3. The Command prompt will then display:

Indicate next point for Main pipe:

Place the other end of the pipe or the first turning point. The length of pipe then appears on the drawing.

AVEVA P&ID will continue to prompt for end or turning points. Continue placing these until the pipe is finished.

  4. The Command prompt will then display:

Indicate next point for Main pipe:

  5. Press or select Enter.

If an offsheet connector was selected as the pipe end style for the end of the pipe, it will be inserted and orientated automatically.

  6. The Command prompt will then display:

Trim Label for Trim pipe (<ret> for new pipe):

Press or select Enter to end the command. The AVEVA P&ID Pipe Properties dialog is then displayed. The pipe can be labelled and the flow direction can be reversed.

For help on drawing a Pipe from a selected Nozzle, select the nozzle, right-click and select the Draw a Pipe Help option from the shortcut menu.
