AVEVA™ P&ID

Open Document Manager

To open AVEVA P&ID Document Manager either:

  • Select Open Document Manager on the Document Manager Configuration Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.

  • Or, click the Document Manager option in Compare group of the Manage tab.

  • Or, via the The Graphical User Interface, as follows:

  1. Start the AVEVA P&ID Common Launcher by clicking on the AVEVA P&ID 12.4 desktop shortcut:

  2. Select the required project from the row of tiles along the top of the screen by clicking on it. Use the arrow buttons < > at each end of the row of these tiles to browse through the list of projects.

  3. Once a project is selected, the launcher will then open a tile displaying the name and description of that project (click the >> button in that tile to return to the list of projects).

  4. If the project is setup to be logged into using SQL Server Security, the SQL user name and password fields are displayed. Enter the user and password. The project server is also displayed.

  5. Test that the entered details are valid by selecting Test Connection. A message will then be displayed indicating whether or not the connection details are valid. For example:

  6. If the test connection is successful, or if the project is setup to be logged into using Windows Integrated Security, the user name and password fields are displayed. The project server is also displayed. The User field includes a list of all project users. Complete these fields as required. then navigate to the Documents tile and click on it (use the arrow buttons < > at each end of the row of tiles to browse the list of applications).

When the AVEVA P&ID Document Manager starts, it is displayed with details of the drawing records for the project displayed.

Note: If Access by Area security is enabled for the project:

  • Only those drawings in areas to which the user has Full Access or Read Only rights are listed.

  • When assigning a design area in the Audit Trail, Isolation or Validation grids, only areas to which the user has Full Access are available for selection.

  • Users in the System Admin group have Full Access to all areas. They may also change the design areas of drawings, refer to Change the Design Areas of Drawings.

The File tab is as follows:

The Refresh option is also displayed by default on the Quick Access toolbar.
