Project Replication with the AVEVA P&ID Application

This procedure indicates the behavior of the AVEVA P&ID application when a drawing is created on the publisher machine and synchronized on the subscriber machine.

1. Launch AVEVA P&ID on the publisher machine.

2. Select the project from the row of tiles and login to the application using the required credentials.

   

   Note: Replication can be performed on a new drawing or existing drawings.

3. To create a new drawing, right-click on the project node of the Engineering Explorer, and select New from the menu.

   

4. Select the required template, specify the drawing number and click the Open button.

   

   Note: Drawings must be synchronized (no consolidation is required) on the publisher machine to view the same drawings on the subscriber machine and vice versa.

   Note: To open the drawing as read only on the publisher/subscriber machine, the Restrict write access to drawings base on server name originator checkbox on the Project Database - Settings Sub-Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program must be checked.

5. Launch AVEVA P&ID on the subscriber machine.

6. Select the project from the row of tiles and login to the application using the required credentials.

   

7. To open the drawing, right-click on the project node of the Engineering Explorer, and select Open from the menu.

   

8. Select the required drawing and note that the Locked By column indicates that the drawing is locked by the publisher machine. Click the Open button.

   

9. A warning is then displayed, click the OK button to open the drawing as read only.

   

   The subscriber receives this message when the drawing is opened regardless of whether the drawing is opened or closed on the publisher machine due the setting applied on the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.

10. Close the drawing and exit AVEVA P&ID on the subscriber machine.

11. Create a pipe on the opened drawing on the publisher machine, specify the pipe properties and click on the OK button.

    

12. Save the drawing.

13. Launch AVEVA P&ID and open the drawing on the subscriber machine. The updated read only drawing is then displayed.

    

14. Close the drawing and exit AVEVA P&ID on the subscriber machine.

15. Create an equipment item on the opened drawing on the publisher machine, specify the equipment properties and click on the OK button.

    

16. Save the drawing.

17. Launch AVEVA P&ID and open the drawing on the subscriber machine. The updated read only drawing is then displayed.
