AVEVA™ P&ID

Export Data to ISO 15926 Files

  • Last UpdatedMar 14, 2024
  • 3 minute read

This procedure is used to export data from drawings to XML files in ISO 15928 format. This data can subsequently be imported into a Schematic database using the AVEVA PDMS or AVEVA Diagrams Schematic Model Manager module.

Data can be exported from a single drawing or from multiple drawings, and in either 3.2, 3.3 or DEXPI 4.0.1 schema format.

"Typical" item data is included in the export, refer to Typical Items.

Note: Data can also be exported directly from a single drawing into a PDMS Schematic database. Refer to Transfer Data to PDMS Schematic Databases.

Associated Project Configuration Options

  • The folder into which the XML files and export log files are placed is specified in the AVEVA Data Path field of the Project Configuration Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.

  • The default folder from which drawings are selected is specified in the Save Path field of the Project Configuration Category.

  • The XML schema used, and the appearance of the SVG files used to display drawings in PDMS, and the Presentation mapping used, are specified using user defined directives set up in the User Defined Directives section of the Miscellaneous - Settings Sub-Category.

  • The "Piping Network System Format", for example, the format of pipe labels output to ISO 15926 format XML files, is set using the USER_PIPINGNETWORKSYSTEMFORMAT user-defined directive in the Miscellaneous - Settings Sub-Category.

  • If the USER_SIGNALLINEPROCESSING user-defined directive in the Miscellaneous - Settings Sub-Category is set to ‘Yes’, data is captured for all signal lines for the purposes of the ISO 15926 export, including those implied (such as a signal line linking two instruments drawn touching each other), as well as those drawn.

  • If the USER_SIGNALLINEPROCESSTEE user-defined directive in the Miscellaneous - Settings Sub-Category is set to ‘Yes’, the tees created when signal lines connect to pipes are included in the export.

Procedure

Export from a Single Drawing

  1. To export data in 3.2 or 3.3 schema format, start the procedure by selecting the ISO 15926 option in the AVEVA Integration group of the Manage tab.

To export data in DEXPI 4.0.1 schema format, start the procedure by selecting the ISO 15926 DEXPI 4.0.1 option in the AVEVA Integration group of the Manage tab.

  2. The export will then take place. The progress of the export will be indicated in a progress bar at the bottom of the application window.

  3. A log file displaying details of the export, including any error and warnings, is then automatically displayed in Notepad.

The exported XML file and the log file are located in the AVEVA Data Path field.

Export from Multiple Drawings

  1. Start the procedure by selecting the ISO 15926 Batch option in the AVEVA Integration group of the Manage tab.

  2. The Select files to process ISOEXPORT dialog is then displayed:

The dialog lists all the drawings in the project Drawings folder. Select the drawings that data is to be exported from by checking the checkboxes next to their names. If all drawings are to be exported from, check the Select All checkbox.

  3. Select the schema that the data is to be exported in: 3.2, 3.3 or DEXPI 4.0.1.

  4. Press OK.

The export will then take place. The progress of the export will be indicated in a progress bar at the bottom of the application window, and in the command prompt, for example:

1 of 7 905675.dwg Drawing file exported successfully

2 of 7 905676.dwg Drawing file exported successfully

  5. When the export is complete, a message is displayed (for example):

The exported XML files and the export log files are located in the AVEVA Data Path field.
