Convert Units during Compare/Update from AVEVA Engineering

When transferring data from an AVEVA Engineering database source to an AVEVA P&ID database destination using the Compare/Update facility, as part of this process, the units of measure of selected values, and the values themselves, can if required be converted to those used in the AVEVA P&ID project. For example, line size units may be converted from mm to inches or power units from kW to HP. This topic describes the setup required to achieve this in the main AVEVA P&ID application.

1. In the User Defined Attributes Configuration Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administrator, create a user-defined dataset for each type of component for which units are to be converted, for example, Pipes, Equipment, etc.

   

2. Access the Pipes Configuration Category, and assign units to the Project Definable Fields fields for pipes.

   

3. Save all settings in the Project Administrator.

4. Open the main AVEVA P&ID Application and refresh the settings to update the tag format values for pipes.

5. Insert a pipeline into the drawing canvas including units, and Label Pipes.

   

6. Commit to save the drawing and pipe.

7. Setup a new Configuration in AVEVA P&ID Reports, ensuring that the necessary unit conversion parameters are specified:

8. Run the Compare and Update process in AVEVA P&ID Reports (refer to Compare and Update Data in the AVEVA P&ID Reports documentation). The data and unit-converted records will then be successfully transferred from AVEVA Engineering to AVEVA P&ID.
