Apply Tracing to Pipes
- Last UpdatedMar 14, 2024
- 1 minute read
This procedure is used to apply tracing to existing pipes. Any inline fittings shown are automatically traced around, for example, if a pipe consists of multiple components, all components of that pipe will be traced, with no gaps in the tracing between components.
Tracing is applied to entire pipes. If tracing is not required for a segment of pipe, that segment of tracing can subsequently be deleted.
For details of the use of this procedure in the context of drawing P&IDs, refer to Trace Lines.
Procedure
-
Start the procedure by selecting the Add Trace option in the Pipeline group of the Home tab.
-
The Command prompt will display:
Select pipe for trace:
The selected pipe is then traced.
Note: When tracing is first applied, the side of a pipe it is applied to depends on the flow direction of the pipe. If required, tracing can subsequently be mirrored, for example, moved to the other side of a pipe. Refer to Mirror Pipe Tracing.
-
The Command prompt will then display:
Select pipe for trace:
Select further pipes until all required tracing is in place. Press or select Enter to end the command.
