Open a Drawing from the Engineering Explorer

Drawings can be opened from drawing shortcut menus.
Alternately, right-click on the Open option of the project shortcut menu. The Select File dialog is then displayed:

The grid in the dialog lists the drawings in the project’s Drawings folder.
Note: If Access by Area security is enabled for the project, only those drawings in areas
to which the user has Full Access rights or Read Only rights are listed.
Users in the System Admin group have Full Access to all areas and therefore to all
drawings.
Refer to Enable Area Based Security for details of Access by Area security.

The Look In drop-down displays the folder structure within the project’s Drawings folder. Click on a sub-folder to list the drawings it contains.

to go back to the previously viewed folder.

To open the parent folder of the current folder, click
.

To search for specific drawings, enter the drawing name (or part of it) in the Look in field and select the search button:
. Any drawings with names that match the search criteria are then displayed in the
grid.

If the Thumbnail option is selected from the View menu, a preview of the drawing is then displayed in the pane to the right of the grid.

If the Grid Only option is selected from the View menu, the preview is not displayed. A wider grid is displayed instead.
Select the drawing to be opened from the grid, and click Open.
If the drawing is one to which the user only has Read Only rights, the following warning is then displayed:

Click OK to open the drawing anyway.
