Fillet Drawing Objects

This procedure is used to create curved edges on pipelines, signal lines or between two selected line objects. There are three methods:
-
A fillet can be created between two pipeline segments, two signal line segments or two line objects.
-
A polyline fillet can be created at each vertex of a pipeline or signal line where two straight line segments meet.
-
Fillets can be created for multiple objects.
Note: Segments that are too short to accommodate the fillet radius are not modified.
During the procedure the following common command prompts are available:
Undo
Reverses the previous action in the procedure.
Radius
Sets the radius for subsequent fillets; changing this value does not affect existing fillets.
Note: A radius value of zero can be used to create a straight edge. Filleting two lines, rays, xlines, or line segments of a 2D polyline with a radius of zero extends or trims the objects so they intersect.
Trim
Controls if the selected objects are trimmed to meet the endpoints of the fillet.
-
Trim. Selected objects or line segments are trimmed to meet the endpoints of the fillet.
-
No Trim. Selected objects or line segments are not trimmed before the fillet is created.
The current value is stored in the TRIMMODE system variable.
Example

The white section of the line indicates the fillet.
Procedures
Fillet between Two Pipeline Segments, Two Signal Line Segments or Two Line Objects
-
Start the procedure by selecting the Fillet option in the Modify group of the Home tab.
-
The Command prompt will display:
Select first object or [Undo / Polyline / Radius / Trim / Multiple]:
Pick the first pipeline segment, signal line segment or line object to be filleted.
-
The Command prompt will display:
Select second object or shift-select to apply corner or [Radius]:
Note: Hold down the Shift key before selecting the pipeline segment, signal line segment or line object to extend or trim the selected objects to form a straight edge. While Shift is held down, a temporary value of zero is assigned to the current fillet radius value.
Pick the second pipeline segment, signal line segment or line object to be filleted.
The fillet is created.
The direction and length of the created fillet is determined by the points picked on the selected objects. Always select an object at the closest point to where you want the endpoints of the fillet to be drawn.

Polyline Fillet
-
Start the procedure by selecting the Fillet option in the Modify group of the Home tab.
-
The Command prompt will display:
Select first object or [Undo / Polyline / Radius / Trim / Multiple]:
Select "Polyline".
-
The Command prompt will display:
Select 2D polyline or [Radius]:
Pick the pipeline or signal line to be filleted.
A fillet is created at each vertex where two straight line segments meet.
Multiple Fillet
-
Start the procedure by selecting the Fillet option in the Modify group of the Home tab.
-
The Command prompt will display:
Select first object or [Undo / Polyline / Radius / Trim / Multiple]:
Select "Multiple".
-
The Command prompt will display:
Pick the first pipeline segment, signal line segment or line object to be filleted.
The process is repeated enabling the creation of fillets for multiple pipeline segments, signal line segments or line objects.
Press <Esc> to end the command.
